Production connectivity

Starlink hire for film & live streaming

Location shoots love the places with no coverage — and then production needs to push rushes, run a live stream or keep the shot list in the cloud. A Starlink Mini gives a remote set a real broadband connection without waiting on a temporary line.

With unlimited data and 80–200 Mbps typical speeds, it's up to uploads, remote monitoring and live broadcast from paddocks, beaches and bush that mobile can't reach.

  • Unlimited data for rushes & uploads
  • Live-stream from no-signal locations
  • Fast to deploy, runs off portable power

On location, online

Set it up at basecamp or beside the rig and it's serving the crew in minutes. No cabling, no provisioning lead time — just power and a clear view of the sky.

Where productions lean on it:

  • Uploading rushes and backing up footage off-site
  • Live-streaming events, sport and performances
  • Remote monitoring, review and client feeds
  • Keeping call sheets, comms and cloud tools online

Power and portability for set

At 1.1 kg the Mini rides in a camera cart and runs off the same portable power you're already carrying — a V-mount-style USB-C bank, a 12V feed or a power station. IP67 rating means weather on an exterior shoot isn't a problem.

Hire it for the shoot days only, with unlimited data and no contract to manage around a production schedule.

Common questions

Can I live-stream from a location with no reception?

Yes — that's a core use case. As long as the unit has a clear view of the sky, it provides a broadband uplink for live streaming from places with no mobile coverage.

Is the upload fast enough for rushes?

Upload is typically 8–15 Mbps with unlimited data, which is workable for pushing rushes and backups off-site through the day. Download runs 80–200 Mbps for reviews and cloud tools.

How is it powered on set?

It draws about 20–40 watts and takes 12–48V DC or USB-C, so it runs off the portable power carts and banks a crew already carries. The mains adapter is included too.

Can I hire it for just the shoot days?

Yes — hire it by the day at $25, or by the week at $129 if the shoot runs longer, both with unlimited data and no contract.
