Clear sky, placement and setup

Plan a Starlink Mini setup with the obstruction checker, suitable placement, power and a pre-trip test.

Download the app before the trip

Install the official Starlink app while you have a connection. Check the current app instructions for the Mini, and keep the hire contact details and setup notes available offline.

Check the actual dish position

Use the app's obstruction checker where the Mini will sit. Trees, buildings and steep terrain can block its view. Moving to a more open location may help, but a campsite or map location alone does not guarantee a connection.

Place and power the Mini safely

Use the supplied stand on a stable surface and the verified power source and cable. Follow the app's current alignment guidance. Join the Wi-Fi network supplied at handover; do not reset the kit or change account settings without contacting the owner.

Test the things you need

Check the actual devices and applications you plan to use. Allow for variable speeds and interruptions, and keep alternatives for essential communications. This equipment is not an emergency beacon or life-safety service.
